“At 20, I was already an icon, the mother of the nation”: Golshifteh Farahani talks about her youth in Iran and her film debut

Interview Having become the relay in France for the demonstrators of the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement, the Iranian actress, talks to "Le Nouvel Obs" about her childhood and adolescence in Iran, between extreme rigor and great freedom, her beginnings in cinema, her artistic choices, her encounters and her arrival in France.

In France, we know Golshifteh Farahani mainly for the story of her eventful departure from Iran in 2008, triggered by her participation in an American film ("State of Lies") and the solidity of her "second" career as an international actress – she will be starring in "Alpha" by Julia Ducournau (in theaters August 20). We know less that previously she reigned as a superstar in her native country from the very beginning, or almost, after having brushed against another destiny.
